Competition

Even though PCS didn't compete this winter I still went to a couple cheerleading competitions. There were some very talented high school squads, and we got some great pictures. (Click the picture to see more)

It really fun seeing the Varsity portion of the competitions, but the Jr. High part was the most impressive. These young girls were throwing basket tosses, libs, full downs, and doing some awesome tumbling. It's great to see the talent these future Varsity cheerleaders have. We put together a great routine and had a fun time working on it. Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Philyaw are wonderful coaches and helped us to do our best. The routine was better than last years, and everything turned out good. (Click the picture to see the PCS routine)

All the squads in the competition were great. We saw some fabulous stunting, dancing and tumbling from everybody. It was really enjoyable to watch everybody. (Click the picture to see how the other squads did)

For just being in Jr. High, all these squads were awesome. We can't wait to see how good these girls will be when they're cheering Varsity. (Click the picture to see the Jr. High girls)

DeerCreek-Mackinaw had a wonderful Jr. High squad. We thought one of their pyramids was really creative. It's nothing too difficult, but with a lot of practice, it looked very sharp. This would be a good stunt for a less-experienced squad to work on. (Click the picture to see the step-by-step pictures)

One of the most important parts of a cheerleading competition is hair. We saw some great hairstyles and have a few pictures of them. (Click the picture to see the hair styles)

We saw a lot of different signs at the competition. Some were professionally made and some were homemade. They all were good for leading the crowd along with the chants. (Click the picture to see some of the signs)

We have a lot of new cheerleaders this year. We had to form new stunt groups and we have worked really hard to stick our stunts. With all the determined and talented girls on the squad, we're doing even better than we did last year. It has really brought us close as a squad and we all really have a good time at practice. We recently saw the Midwest cheerleading competition at the Peoria Civic Center, hosted by UCA. We saw some really wonderful stunting and we have some pictures of our favorite ones. (Click the picture to see some of the signs)
