![]() Personalized Hair Ribbons ![]() For this '02-'03 year, we made personalized ribbons, with everybody's name and graduation year printed on them. We decided to use satin ribbon, which was less expensive. Our ribbons ended up costing about $.50 each. We cut 4 ribbons (5/8 inch purple, 3/8 inch white, 1/4 inch purple, and 1/4 inch gold) into 12 inch strips. We lined them up and slid them through a hair band. We tied them securly onto the hair band. (You don't actually use the band to hold your hair back. You need to use a thicker hair band first to make your ponytail. Then you wrap the hair ribbon's band once or twice around the thicker hair band. (We do this because the thin hair band can't hold hair back. It will be likely to break if you do.) Also, this allows you to easily put the ribbon on the top of the ponytail, and it will lay better. This year we thought it would be neat to personalize each ribbon. We used Avery iron-on transfer sheets. You need to make the names backwards when you print them, because iron-ons flip once they're ironed-on. Since they have a white background, we put them on the white ribbon. The ribbons were easy to make and will be a great keepsake from this year.
