![]() Team Tombstones ![]() We have some cute mini tombstones you can make for your teams lockers this month. We have several different variations on this, depending on how much work you'd like to put into each one. There are several different ways you can create the tombstone background design you need. I typed "Marble Textures" into my search engine and it came up with several different patters I could use. Here are two that I liked. I printed these on cardstock. If you aren't sure about using existing pictures or you want to make gigantic tombstones you can spray paint poster board gray. I bought my spray paint at Wal-Mart for $1.29 and the white poster board is on sale this week at "Hobbie Lobbie" 5 sheets for $1.00. To save time, you can purchase gray poster board to use for your tombstones. It looks good, but does not have the color variation that a tombstone has. At first it might look spotted so just keep going over it until you end up with a nice shadow. The poster board was big enough that I could cut two big tombstones out of each one. The larger posters are good for wall displays. The nice thing about the big tombstone is you have a lot more room. I printed out a skull for each of these. I also tried printing out the epitaph on a "Brother" label machine. This looked nice, but their printing tape is really expensive $15.00 - $30.00 and will only do about 10 - 20. I found you could print out 10-12 epitaphs on one "Iron-On T Shirt Transfers" sheet and these looked just as good for much less. For my printing I used a font called "Chiller". If you know a mom with great handwriting she can print this by hand for you. You can either print the text at the same time as the tombstone or you could cut up the big poster into 8 x 10 sheets and print onto it. I made larger versions of my posters and put them up on a wall. I cut out silhouettes of bats, owls, and stalagmites from black poster board. Then I cut out long strips of black poster board and made a fence. This looked really neat and everyone loved this. Even though I did the big wall display I still wanted to make something for the guys lockers. I printed little 3 x 4 inch tombstones on magnets for them. The hardest part of this was coming up with all sorts of epitaphs. This took us a long time to come up with these so I hope you appreciate getting these for free. We have many pictures at the end of this page. Here are some examples of tombstone that went with certain rhyming names. You can make your own rhymes for your team's names. Here lies Devin because he fought Kevin Here lies Kevin because he fought Devin Here lies Joe Lang, he died from drinking too much Tang. Here lies Fred, he hit his head, and now he's dead. We all said goodbye to Jake, After he was bit by a snake We will keep adding epitaphs as we find good ones. If your squad finds a good one, e-mail it to us!
