![]() T Shirt Surgery ![]() A slightly more advanced way to transfrom your shirt is to make it into a snap-up jacket. The great thing about this shirt is that it can be worn in a variety of ways and layered with a sportsbra or tank top. ![]() The design on this shirt is perfect to cut up the middle. Most designs are right in the middle, so they wouldn't work. We offer this shirt in our store for $9.99 and it works great with this surgery. (Make sure you buy your shirt a size larger than you would normally wear. Putting in the snaps makes the shirt fit a lot smaller.) ![]() We started out by drawing a line up the middle of the shirt. ![]() We cut the T-shirt up the middle. The edges will tend to roll back. ![]() We folded the edge over twice and ironed it flat. There are several ways to finish the edge, but we used this way because it was quicker. ![]() Walmart's fabric department carries rolls of these snaps. These were very cheap (About $2.00 for a yard) We used a 20 inch strip for this shirt. ![]() The strip has two parts, a back and a front. We sewed the front to one side of the shirt and the back to the other side. We made sure that the snaps were lined up before we sewed. We were very happy with the way this cute shirt turned out. ![]() If your shirt doesn't look good with the black snaps, you can buy white ones. ![]() Use your straight edge to make your line. ![]() Cut your shirt and iron it back like before. ![]() The nice thing about this style of shirt is that it can be worn several ways, and is good for layering. When you're cold, you can wear it with only one or two snaps undone. ![]() If you're wearing a sports bra or tank top, you can wear your shirt open like a jacket. ![]() If you leave a few bottom snaps undone, you can tie your shirt in a knot. This looks very cute and is also comfortable. Remember, T-shirt surgery is like art. You can do whatever you want to with your shirts. Feel free to cut your sleeves, make your jacket shorter, lace up the sleeves, or do anything that you think will make your shirt better. We have this design on an un-altered T shirt in our Cheer Store!
